All our lives we have been cutting round cakes into triangles and we have been happy with it. Alex Bellos’ tutorial on the “Scientific Way to Cut a Cake” on Numberphile will leave you stunned, challenging your fundamental believes about cutting a round Cake.
Bellos used a reference form a British mathematician from a hundred year old magazine to demonstrate the right or “scientific” way of cutting a round cake because if you cut triangles, “you’re not maximizing the amount of gastronomical pleasure”. Cutting triangles makes the cake dry while left over night, whereas the scientific way will ensure a soft moist sponge every time you have a bite of your round cake.
